In 1978  the 10th Light Horse Regiment was reduced to a squadron and designated A Squadron 10th Light Horse.   Some months later the unit was granted freedom of the city of Northam, the city that had been home of the squadron since 1948.  The newly reformed squadron  is shown drawn up in review order on the Northam oval, prior to the arrival of the reviewing officer and marching through the streets of Northam.
