3rd Light Horse (Tasmanian Mounted Infantry)


The Role of Armour in the Australian Defence Force is defined as:

"The co-ordination with other arms, to close with and destroy the enemy forces using fire, manoeuvre and shock action."

The 3rd Light Horse Regiment (Tasmanian Mounted Infantry) was a Light Horse militia unit in Tasmania. In 1931, the 22nd Light Horse (Tasmanian Light Horse) was re-designated as the 3rd Light Horse Regiment (Tasmanian Mounted Infantry) under which title it existed until 1937 when it was redesignated the 22nd Light Horse (Tasmanian Light Horse).
