4th Australian Light Horse Regiment

The 4th Light Horse Regiment was raised, from recruits from Victoria in August 1914. It was one of three regiments of the 4th Light Horse Brigade. The regiment sailed from Melbourne on 18th October, 1914 and disembarked in Egypt on the 10th December. It fought in many battles at Gallipoli and Palestine (including the famous charge at Beersheba), before sailing home to Australia in 1919. It has the distinction of being the only Light Horse regiment to have fought at Gallipoli, Middle East and the Western Front.
