Australian Commonwealth Horse


With the formation of the Australian Commonwealth in 1901, the Australian Commonwealth Horse regiment was raised and comprised of various battalions of Light Horse units from each Australian State. The battalions of this unit fought in the Boer War as part of the various Australian Contingents.





No. 811 Trooper Albert Taylor - Bungendore Troop - 1st Australian Horse (NSW) November 1899
He was wounded in the shoulder on 10th March 1903 at Driefontein. Promoted to Lieutenant in the 3rd New South Wales Mounted Rifles in 1901/02.
He is wearing a khaki field service uniform with the regiment's green slouch hat and carries a cavalry carbine and sword.
