Australian Light Horse Regiments - Militia - 1920 to 1942  Queensland

With the end of the First War World, Australia's Light Horse regiments were mostly disbanded in 1919. The 1920s and 1930s saw the reformation of the Light Horse regiments as militia units, many of whom inherited battle honours and traditions from AIF and pre World War One Light Horse regiments.

The Queensland Light Horse Regiments between 1921 and 1942 were part of the 1st Cavalry Brigade, which was raised in Toowoomba, Queensland in 1921.

Later as Motor Regiments, they were part of the 1st Motor Brigade (1942 - 1943).

The Second World War saw many of these militia regiments either disbanded, formed into AIF motorised units or used in the defence of mainland Australia.
