12th/16th Hunter River Lancers


The Role of Armour in the Australian Defence Force is defined as:

"The co-ordination with other arms, to close with and destroy the enemy forces using fire, manoeuvre and shock action."

12th/16th Hunter River Lancers is an Australian Army Reserve Light Armoured Regiment located in the Hunter Valley and Central NSW. It is currently part of the 8th Brigade.

The role of 12th/16th Hunter River Lancers is to provide deployable light armoured and supporting force elements and individuals for operational service, whilst maintaining a framework for expansion to a Light Composite Armoured Regiment for Defence of Australia.

The Regiment received 15 new Bushmaster vehicles in September, 2007 in Tamworth, NSW.
